Hi Robert, thanks for writing. The church does provide free copies of the Bible to people that don't have them, but most people do already have them so they aren't stocked like copies of the Book of Mormon. The church is trying to help people discover the other major witness of Jesus Christ found in the Book of Mormon account of God's dealings with people that left Jerusalem and came to the Americas and were visited by Christ after his resurrection. Both the Bible and Book of Mormon go together as companion witnesses. In one verse in the Book of Mormon, the prophet Nephi recorded these words from the Lord to the people in the latter days that would receive the Book of Mormon:
2 Nephi 29:8 "Wherefore murmur ye, because that ye shall receive more of my word? Know ye not that the testimony of two nations is a witness unto you that I am God, that I remember one nation like unto another? Wherefore, I speak the same words unto one nation like unto another. And when the two nations shall run together the testimony of the two nations shall run together also."
